UNDP Project: Samoa #5

UNDPプロジェクト:サモア #5 - Ocean Leather

[Technical support #5]

In short, the fish leather processing experiment was successful and we were able to achieve our local goals.

However, looking back on this technical assistance in Samoa, not everything went smoothly. Samoa is a small island country with a population of 200,000 people, so the equipment and drugs actually used in Japan were not available in Samoa, the temperature was hot and humid and the environment for producing fish leather was not suitable, and plans went awry. Something happened.

Each time, we discussed and collaborated with the local team to solve each problem one by one and repeated processing experiments. As a result, we managed to make it a success.

Of course, in order to commercialize it in the future, it will be necessary to make detailed adjustments and revisions, but the fact that we were able to create fish leather with many local people in Samoa, which has a different environment than Japan, is due to the achievement of the project's goals. I think we are definitely getting closer.

It also gave me a lot of confidence in my future activities overseas, and it was a good stimulus for my future activities. After all, it's really fun to have colleagues who can work toward the same goal in manufacturing.

However, the project doesn't end there. Currently, we are still in contact with the local team and are trying to make leather products using fish leather. I'll try to update again if there is any progress.
