[Technical support situation #5]
In short, the fish leather processing experiment was a success and we were able to achieve our local goal.
However, looking back on the technical assistance we provided in Samoa, not everything went smoothly. Samoa is a small island nation with a population of 200,000, and there were times when the equipment and chemicals we use in Japan did not exist in Samoa, or when the environment for fish leather manufacturing was not suitable due to the high temperatures and humidity, and so there were times when the plan fell behind.
Each time, we worked together with the local team to overcome each problem and repeat the processing experiments.
Of course, we will need to make some fine adjustments and revisions before we can commercialize the product, but I believe that being able to create fish leather with many local people in Samoa, a place with a different environment to Japan, has definitely brought us closer to achieving our project goal.
It also gave me a lot of confidence to work overseas in the future and was a good stimulus for my future activities. After all, it is a lot of fun to have colleagues who can work towards the same goal in manufacturing.
However, the project is not over yet. We are still in contact with the local team and are trying to make leather products using fish leather. We will update you again if there is any progress.
