Good evening everyone!
This may be a bit sudden, but do you know the country of Samoa? 🇼🇸
Samoa is a country located in Oceania, just near the International Date Line, and consists of the islands of Upolu, Savai'i, and other small islands.
In fact, we are currently working with ThinkCea Inc. (a company based in Toyama Prefecture that manufactures fish leather and other products) and the UNDP Accelerator Labs of the United Nations Development Programme in Samoa on the Japan SDGs Innovation Challenge project, which aims to make effective use of fish waste in Samoa, in collaboration with the local community!
Thankfully, Ocean Leather was able to participate in this project after receiving an invitation from Tomohisa Noguchi, CEO of ThinkCy Inc., the organizer of the project. Although it is all new to us, we are working towards development in cooperation with local UNDP staff! Although the period is limited to a few months, through this project we hope to create new solutions to a number of problems and expand the possibilities of the fish leather industry!
