Yellowtail is a relatively fast-growing fish that is often farmed and is a popular fish consumed by Japanese people throughout the year. It is one of the main fish species alongside red sea bream in fishing ponds. It features a delicate scale pattern and a smooth texture. Additionally, yellowtail is known as a "shusseuo" (a fish that changes its name as it grows), making it an ideal leather for charms wishing for success in work or studies.

All fish have a sensory organ called the "lateral line," which allows them to sense water flow, and it is a precious part that can only be taken from one leather piece. In particular, yellowtail leather has a clear lateral line, making it one of the leathers where you can most appreciate the charm of fish leather. Usually, there is only one lateral line, but occasionally, there are fish with a bifurcated lateral line.
